The works of contemporary Mexican playwrights are becoming better known in the United States as professional theatre companies in New York and Los Angeles stage productions of their plays. Due to English translations like this one, American audiences can better appreciate the new Mexican dramaturgy of Elena Garro (The Tree), Carlos Olmos (Profane Games), Eduardo Rodríguez Solís (The Fickle Finger of Lady Death), and Víctor Hugo Rascón Banda (Murder with Malice). The translations in this collection were commissioned by Teatro Dallas and the Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre and were staged recently in Dallas and New York.
