In the 1970s and early 1980s, the emergence of the Italian theatrical post-avant-garde marked a watershed in the development of experimental performance. The Authors: Gabriella Giannachi (1964) is Lecturer in Theatre Studies at the University of Lancaster. She has published On Directing (1999). Her forthcoming publications include Performing Nature and Virtual Theatres.
Nick Kaye (1961) is Professor and Chair in Drama at the University of Manchester. His publications are wide ranging and include Postmodernism and Performance (1994), Art into Theatre (1996) and Site-Specific Art: Performance, Place and Documentation (2000).
