About the Author

Stephen White is Professor of International Politics at the University of Glasgow. He is the author of Russia’s New Politics: The Management of a Postcommunist Society. He is the chief editor of The Journal of Communist Studies and Transition Politics.

Zvi Gitelman is Professor of Political Science and Preston Tisch Professor of Judaic Studies at the University of Michigan. He is the editor of The Emergence of Modern Jewish Politics: Bundism and Zionism in Eastern Europe.

Richard Sakwa is Professor of Russian and European Politics at the University of Kent. He is the author of Putin: Russia’s Choice.
