Grade 5-9-- Bountiful definitions of video terminology make this how-to book a solid choice for young people interested in camcorder production. The sections are short and specific, giving basic technical information that relies on extensive graphics and full-color and black-and-white photographs. Subjects include camera use, camcorder features, scripting, composition, lighting, and editing. The information in each chapter is accurate, but bare bones. Although this book lacks the creativity of Andersen's Make Your Own Animated Movies and Videotapes (Little, 1991), it is a big improvement over Yurko's Video Basics (Prentice-Hall, 1983). With its lively and colorful format, it's sure to be a popular guide for beginning video buffs. --Judie Porter, Media Services Center, Portsmouth School Department, RI
