Grade 4-6. An adaptation of Andy King's Fundamental Mountain Biking [see below]. The layout, pagination, and photos are identical to that book, but Jensen has shortened and simplified the text. She uses larger print, shorter sentences, and an edited structure; although it is still clear, this text reads more like a basal reader than a trade book. Fundamental states, "Once you learn this maneuver, you will use it many times on tough mountain bike courses. You can also hop up on curbs...." Here it reads, "Once you know how to hop, you'll be hopping many times on tough mountain courses. You can also hop up on curbs...." Libraries with a high demand for material on several reading levels may find this useful, but most collections will be better served by King's edition, which is concise, attractive, and informative.?Beth Tegart, Oneida City Schools, NY
