Grade 6–9—Discussing many aspects of maintaining a healthy weight and an exercise routine, along with addressing the reasons that people are overweight, this solid entry will provide not only sound advice for readers interested in the topic, but also plentiful information for reports. The personal accounts of different people and their weight situations make for interesting sidebars and chapter starters, but the book suffers from terminal blandness. Black-and-white photographs and charts break up the text but do little to enliven the presentation. Students will be unlikely to browse this selection, even though it is well written and topical. For a more colorful treatment of the same subject, see Elizabeth Bauchner's What Do I Have to Lose? A Teen's Guide to Weight Management (Mason Crest, 2004).—Robin Henry, Griffin Middle School, Frisco, TX
