Synopsis
Multiple theoretical perspectives are conceptualized as facets of psychological functioning, including the interpersonal, developmental, characterologic, and interpsychic. The authors examine the ways in which particular theoretical orientations prompt particular theoretical transactions. They explain how correlations can be identified and classified in "therapeutic bids," which were identified in the course of observing positive transactions between children and their parents and clinicians at the Parent-Infant Development Service, U. of Chicago.
