Reviews

Gr 2-4--A series title that traces the life of Colin Powell, featuring the many responsibilities he faced in his various roles in the U.S. government. Full-page, full-color photographs alternate with a simple, large-print text that highlights difficult words in bold and provides pronunciations. Powell serves as an outstanding role model for young people with his industrious nature, his self-confidence, his determination, and his bravery. The biography covers his military life, his contributions as national security advisor to President Reagan and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under President Bush, and his involvement in the Persian Gulf. Unfortunately, one of the captions is a fragmented sentence and another mistakenly identifies a photo of a group of West Point cadets as members of the ROTC.
