Reviews

Reviewed with Andrew Hipp's The Life Cycle of a Mouse.

PreS-Gr. 2. These science books for beginning readers introduce the life cycle of various animals in nature. Simple language and bright color photos follow a baby animal's life from its parents' mating and the baby's birth through the journey to adulthood. Children will learn how young animals learn to find food, evade predators, and prepare for winter. Each double-page spread is a chapter of its own, featuring explanatory text and a captioned, full-color photo. The simple design makes these books good springboards to more in-depth nonfiction on the subject. A glossary and a few Web site listings are among appended materials in these titles in the Life Cycle Of series. Helen Rosenberg
