From Library Journal:
Williamson provides short essays on 100 groups, including non-Christian religions, Christian denominations, and cults. Each essay uses similar subheadings like "Beliefs and Doctrines" and "Organization" for easy comparison. The most interesting heading is "Significant Terms," where short definitions tell a great deal about these groups at a glance. All articles are signed and include bibliographies. While the groups speak for themselves, insiders are not always the best source of objective comparative information. Some denominations, for example, emphasize their basic biblical doctrines without helping the reader see how they differ from similar churches. Cults tend to inflate statistics and downplay oddities. Frank S. Mead and Samuel S. Hill's Handbook of Denominations in the United States (Abingdon Pr., 1990. 9th ed.) covers over 200 groups with much greater objectivity.
