About the Author
MICHAEL JAFFE GARBUTT grew up in Manchester, England, and was educated at the Durham University, where he was president of the Jewish Society. He holds a Ph.D. in applied linguistics from Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia, and has worked extensively in the analysis of patient narratives in psychotherapy. Dr. Garbutt has lived and worked in Israel, Italy, Indonesia, and the United States. Dr. Garbutts interest in narrative studies also extends to the visual arts and architecture. He is the co-director and presenter of the popular Australian ABC-TV series Garbutts Way, which explores the quality of the built and natural environment, and director of Tunguska Events, a multimedia design studio based in Sydney. The author of several English-language textbooks, he is currently working on a book about sacred spaces in architecture and a feature film about Jewish life in the diaspora.
