Reviews

Kindergarten-Grade 2-An introduction to air pressure, hurricanes, tornadoes, weather maps, water vapor, lightning, shadows, and more. There is not a lot of information on any one topic, but the authors have managed to simplify a complicated subject for young children. Hurricanes are described as "storms with very strong winds." While nothing is said of the devastation they cause, one illustration does show a car submerged in water with gusts of wind blowing tree limbs around. The watercolor illustrations do much to help readers visualize the information presented. Those wanting to understand more about the concepts introduced here can go on to Tomie dePaola's The Cloud Book (Holiday, 1975), or Lynda De Witt's What Will the Weather Be? (HarperCollins, 1991).
