About the Author
Carol Noll Hoskins, PhD, R.N., F.A.A.N., is Professor of Nursing at New York University, where she served as Director of the Program in Research and Theory Development in Nursing Science (1985-1990). Her research focuses on adjustment of the family to illness, repeated-measures designs, and psychometrics. She is the author of two measures of interactive behaviors in the partner relationship, The Partner Relationship Inventory and The Dominance-Accommodation Scale.Professor Hoskins was Principal Investigator for a longitudinal study of psychosocial adjustment among women with breast cancer and their partners (1990-1994). The findings were used to develop a four-part instructional videotape series, Journey to Recovery: For Women with Breast Cancer and their Partners. The phase-specific content is applicable to the diagnostic, postsurgical, adjuvant therapy, and ongoing recovery periods. She is currently the Principal Investigator on phase III of the program of research, a randomized clinical trial to study the effectiveness of standardized education by videotape, telephone counseling, or a combination of the two interventions.
