Elizabeth C. Pomeroy, PhD, LCSW is the Bert Kruger Smith Professorship of Mental Health and Aging at the School of Social Work, University of Texas at Austin. She is the Co-Director and Co-Principal Investigator of the Institute for Health Research and Practice. She teaches in the undergraduate and graduate social work program. Her research has focused on the effectiveness of mental health interventions for adults, children, and families. A prolific author, she has published over 100 journal articles and four textbooks and has conducted numerous workshops on the DSM-5, grief and loss issues, and social work values and ethics. She is a member of the Academy of Distinguished Professors and a UT Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Professor.
Renée Bradford Garcia, MSW, LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker with a private practice near Austin, Texas. She has over 20 years of experience providing psychotherapy to individuals and families, including children, adolescents, and adults. Renée's specialties include grief and loss, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, parenting and life transitions. She has taught at the University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work as an adjunct professor. Renée is co-author with Elizabeth C. Pomeroy of two textbooks and a co-author of Don't Look at Me in That Tone of Voice: Tween Discipline for Busy Parents (2013) and a parenting blog at blinkofyoureye.com.
