Synopsis
Abstract This publication synthesizes several years of Eisenhower Consortium-sponsored research dealing with the interrelationships of man's recreational activities with the multiple aspects of water quantity and quality in the Rocky Mountain West. It discusses the supply-demand relationships of wildland resource activities that affect water quality and watershed-transport mechanisms and the influence of water quality and of levels of streamflow upon aquatic biota. It provides a description of the methodology used in the study of environmental issues, and a better base than is now available from which to select alternative actions.
