The basic organization of this "classic" text remains unchanged. Part I describes the skills required to work with court opinions and statutes. Part II provides a functional introduction to legal research with updated descriptions of printed research sources and illustrations. Part III has been expanded with a new Chapter 10 that discusses effective writing and revising techniques and describes common units of legal writing such as case statements and comparisons. Includes new court opinions and an updated and more comprehensive introduction to computer-assisted legal research (CALR) and to integration of CALR with traditional manual research.
