From the Back Cover

Finding a book on the chemical elements that is neither an advanced, graduate-level text nor a simplistic overview for children is virtually impossible. Now, with Exploring Chemical Elements and Their Compounds, David L. Heiserman provides the perfect guide for anyone who need a good solid introduction to all of the 107 chemical elements.

Reviews

YA-- An excellent introduction to the specific elements. The book provides the following information for each of the first 94 elements: a chart of basic data; a structural diagram; and a discussion of the historical background, chemical properties, laboratory and commercial production, and the compounds and isotopes. Elements 95 through 107 are discussed individually but more briefly. Elements 108 and up are lumped together in a short discussion. Although some knowledge of basic chemistry is required, this is quite readable and will be appreciated by high school students starting their research. Its organization enables readers to make quick, accurate comparisons between elements, while the comprehensive index pulls together research by various chemists.
