About the book >.>.> FOR MANY YEARS I HAVE DEVOTED much of my time to listening to the faith stories of older people. Only recently have Iretraced my history to discover where this interest began. As a small boy, I remember going with my father to visit in nursing homes. He had a special love for the elderly and spent hours by their bedside. I remember my mother's sad and untimely death with Parkinson's disease; she ended her last days in a nursing home that lived up to the worst images of such institutions. I remember visiting in a nursing home; a dear lady stopped me and said, "People seldom listen to my stories, so I've stopped trying to tell them." I recorded her life story, and her story sparked the first Remembering Your Story group in a nursing home. Since that humble beginning some fifteen years ago, it has been my priv- ilege and joy to share in countless groups of people of all ages who remember their stories. These groups have encouraged community and eased the pain of loneliness for many. Kathleen Fischer has said th. Seller Inventory # Batch-FM377-VG-8942
