This book offers Basic EMS personnel a complete course covering all the skills necessary for rapid assessment, resuscitation, stabilization and transportation of the trauma patient. This field-tested book as developed by Basic Trauma Life Support International-an international organization of teachers of prehospital trauma care. It has been endorsed by the American College of Emergency Physicians and the National Association of EMS Physicians. Updated bibliography in the Shock Chapter and Head Trauma Chapter. Management of head trauma changed to the standards set by the Brain Trauma Foundation. Management of shock is modified to reflect management of the patient with both a head injury and shock. Revised spinal trauma chapter. Revised patient assessment selects the most practical way to assess the trauma patient. Follows the 1994 Revised EMT-Basic National Standard Curriculum.
