"Brad Igou has combined a quarter-century of Family Life and reproduced Amish-written short pieces on a wide range of subjects: early Anabaptist history, American Amish history, internal conflicts within the community, family relations, child-rearing, worship, nonviolence, and many others. The Amish emerge from these pages much more humanized than they do in the more familiar caricatures; they turn out to be people not so unlike the rest of us, with doubts and disagreements and a sense of humor."
-Nova Religio
Brad Igou first became interested in the Amish of Lancaster County as a tour guide and came to know some Amish personally. He spent three months living with an Amish family as he studied for his sociology-anthropology major at Ithaca (NY) College.
Brad was an English teacher in Japan for eight years. Back home in Lancaster, Brad was employed by Amish Country Tours and started compiling writings from the Amish periodical Family Life. He has become vice president and co-owner of the Amish Experience, a center intrepreting Amish culture to visitors.
