Gr. 3-4, younger with help. Perfection isn't the goal of books in the Let's Create series; rather, it's having fun and testing creativity with arts and crafts. Kids have put together the projects in the pictures, too, a nice change from many craft books for children, which showcase art that's just too perfect for little hands to have made. Like other books in this series, this one begins with a few introductory remarks explaining the craft. Kids may need adult help to get the right consistency of diluted glue or to make powdered glue (directions aren't precise), but the projects are simple enough for children to assemble with minimal help. The clearly numbered, step-by-step instructions are placed beneath or alongside color photos, and the projects themselves seem to be right out of kids' own imaginations--for example, a decorated coat hanger, a simple bowl to hold a child's precious treasures. A useful addition to the craft shelf. Stephanie Zvirin
