Synopsis
Educator's Publishing Service's Let's Read series teaches basic facts about the relationship of spelling to sound. A linguistic approach to teaching reading, it organizes the components of the language into a step-by-step series of patterns and coordinated readings-from less complex and regular spelling and phrase patterns to the more irregular spellings and complex sentence structures of standard English. Some of the most common English words are included in the readings and exercises so that students can easily understand how to associate spelling with sound and can apply the principles in their own reading. Let's Read 7Begins teaching irregular patterns, including some common suffixes and irregular words. Sentences average 10 to 20 words. Most reading is of short stories rather than unrelated 2-3-sentence paragraphs. Stories are much longer than in previous "Let's Read" books. Grades 2-3.
