Reviews

If you are still looking for an on-ramp to the information superhighway, this is the book for you. It is designed specifically for someone with little or no Internet experience. Murray gets novices up on the Internet and introduces the basics of browsing, searching, and even creating your own Web page. She also covers e-mail, listservs, UseNet, chatting, Telnet, FTP, and Gopher. Each area is introduced well enough for readers to get started and feel comfortable discovering more on their own. Step-by-step exercises take beginners by the hand. Screen shots and hints round out the book. All of the examples are specific to libraries. There is no glossary; however, all unfamiliar terms are defined in the text. The excellent organization and thorough table of contents eliminate the need for an index.-Yapha Nussbaum Mason, Brentwood Lower School, Los Angeles
