Seymour Lubetzky promulgated many of the theories of descriptive cataloging in place in the Anglo-American world at the end of the twentieth century. This volume of papers presented at a 1998 symposium in his honor begins with three that outline the development of the cataloging rules since Panizzi and the contributions that Lubetzky made. Next come five papers on current research in cataloging, for example, on the future of main and added entries and the application of Lubetzky's work principle to new environments.
