Now you can thoroughly engage your audience in the quality and spirit of your presentation when you use these "permission granted" plans, scripts, and props that reflect the original works. Books in Bloom outlines the step-by-step process and proves anyone can do it.

Kimberly Faurot is a children's librarian committed to creating quality materials, visual storytelling pieces, and services for children's library programming. Providing children's services in public libraries around the Midwest for more than a decade, she has also designed several book character dolls for the MerryMakers, Inc. toy company. She holds her MLS from Indiana University.
This excellent book provides patterns for props and examples of story scripts for teachers and librarians to use in enhancing storytimes. It covers everything from obtaining copyright permissions and supplies to step-by-step directions. Ample illustrations make it clear how to proceed. Of particular interest are the scripts for well-known picture books and poems. These are sensitively done and do not distract from the actual books. Storage and recycling of props are discussed, as are the many different kinds of materials that can be used to make props such as flannel board, puppets, or stick puppets. A pleasure to read, this book should inspire professionals and students to become innovative and interactive with audiences and is highly recommended for preschool and elementary-school teachers and librarians.
