Reviews
This is a handsomely produced tribute to one of the 20th century's most influential sculptors. Written by a fellow national, the discursive text throws fascinating sidelights on Brancusi's Romanian heritage and art historical associations. An illuminating section evaluates the artist's monumental, uncompleted projects: the Targu-Jui ensemble, and the Temple of Meditation of Indore. The book's thoughtful analysis of sculptural processes, its comprehensive photographs, and its price make it a purchase for large and specialized collections. A catalogue raisonne of Brancusi's work will be forthcoming. Paula A. Baxter, Museum of Modern Art Lib., New York
