Reviews
Guild, a renowned designer for the Designers Guild in London, examines color theory and the history and potential of color in decoration. She emphasizes vivid colors and shows how they can be used in home decorating, ranging from painted walls and furniture to coordinating fabrics. Excellent color photography illustrates her bold use of color. Guild includes a fabric directory to identify the Designer Guild fabrics featured in her book, which promotes her business but tends to limit the book's overall usefulness. As a result, this work may well appeal more to students of decorating than to lay readers looking for a basic "how-to-do-it" decorating book. Though it is attractive and interesting, librarians should consider it only as a supplement.
