In many of his prints, James Rosenquist aims to pack the same power found in his billboard-size Pop paintings. Dense with multiple associations, spiked with surreal humor, his graphics reveal a virtuoso colorist and witty social satirist. In works like A Pale Angel's Halo , Welcome to the Water Planet , Time Stream and Waterspout , we also see a relentlessly inquisitive investigator of space-time and of human cognitive processes. Rosenquist has endured and flourished beyond his role as Pop visionary. Though best known for his paintings, his graphic work reveals a wealth of attention to technical detail; and the prints tell much about his approach to his subject matter. "James Rosenquist is an internationally renowned artist who first achieved wide recognition as a result of his pioneering contributions to Pop Art in the 1960s and 1970s. Like many artists of his circle, particularly Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, Rosenquist has been fascinated with the visual language and ephemera of mass-reproduction. In Rosenquist's case, his interest was manifested in an art derived from popular imagery sources yet committed to the expression of his personal concerns as an artist and a printmaker. Pages are clean and bright. The book's exterior covers and spine are spotless but with a slight scuff mark on the front cover. The lower left corner of the back cover is lightly bumped.
