He finds a job working as an aircraft mechanic, hoping to make his fortune. In Pilotage, Stephen's navigator Peter Dennison is struggling with the same problem. An example of trim, professional storytelling with technical know-how (splendid accounts of flying, driving by night, and sailing) giving extra thrust to the narrative. --Observer
