Synopsis
Based on the very popular and moving song by Ted Egan, concerning a drover whose 'boy' is really his Aboriginal wife. The song is set in the 1920s when it was illegal to marry an Aboriginal, and acts of brutality and injustice to Aborigines usually went unpunished and unmourned by the white community. Robert Ingpen's richly evocative illustrations make this a beautiful gift book for adults as well as a unique picture book for older readers.

About the Author
Robert Ingpen's artistry is renowned internationally. In 1986 he became the first Australian to be awarded the prestigious international Hans Christian Andersen Medal for his illustrations.
