Book by Hyland, Ann
"synopsis" may belong to another edition of this title.
Ann Hyland started riding at the age of twelve, her reward for obtaining a school scholarship. Her professional career with horses began where she moved to the USA, where she ran a livery, training and riding stables and first started endurance riding. After successfully completing 100-milers with her Standardbred mare, she returned to England with this mare and a yearling Arabian stallion who was to become one of Britain's leading endurance horses. As well as competing very successfully herself, both nationally and internationally, Ann Hyland has bred and produced many endurance horses for other riders, and has helped newcomers to get their start in the sport. She has also been active in many other equestrian fields, breaking, training and producing other people's horses for showing under Western saddle and in Palomino, Appaloosa and Quarter Horse classes. She judges for the British Quarter Horse Association and the Western Horsemen's Association, as well as at local level. She started the Endurance Horse and Pony Society of Great Britain and has been active in many other equestrian societies. Ann Hyland has written a large number of articles on all aspects of horsemanship over the last few years, and is now writing full time. Her books include Beginner's Guide to Western Riding, Beginner's Guide to Endurance Riding, From Foal to Five Years, and Riding Long Distance.
