Seller: Peter & Rachel Reynolds, BISHOP AUCKLAND, United Kingdom
Cloth. Condition: Average. Dust Jacket Condition: Average. . 585 + 7 + 188 pages. Continuous commentary/cross-reference running through the Bible, verse by verse. Often ascribed to Reuben Torrey, this was not created by him but published decades before his birth by Samuel Bagster as early as the 1830s, and discovered by Torrey some 20 years before he started promoting it. In some early editions, issued as The Treasury Bible, this material was interleaved with the English language pages of the Bagster Polyglot Bible. Both the cross-references and the explanatory material were drawn from assorted authors; Thomas Scott, Canne, Brown, Blayney, Wilson, are mentioned in the original title page and introduction, but many others are mentioned in the text, perhaps quoted at second hand. Some material has identical wording to Adam Clarke's commentary. Seller Inventory # 407177
