About the Author

Born in 1902 in County Donegal, Ireland, William James Grier studied at Queen’s University Belfast, where a friend’s witness converted him to Christ. He studied theology in Princeton Seminary under Gresham Machen, Geerhardus Vos, and Robert Dick Wilson, returning to Belfast for a controversial compulsory year at the Irish Presbyterian College. Grier went on to help found the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Ireland, edited Evangelical Presbyterian magazine, ministered to the Stranmillis congregation, and managed the Evangelical Bookshop. W.J. Grier books include The Life of John Calvin, a straightforward accounting of the Geneva Reformer that shares how, for the sake of the gospel, Calvin burned himself out. It also illuminates the work of God in the Reformation. In The Momentous Event, Grier describes what most Calvinistic teachers believe about the Second Advent, shared in a readable style. This book is available in Spanish: El Momento Transcendental.
