Synopsis
Paperback Edition Second Printing: April 1989 From Author's Introduction. The principal aim of this pamphlet is to provide a brief history of the development of the Roman Rite. To the best of my knowledge, no short study of this topic is available in English at present. Readers will note a number of references to my own books and pamphlets in the text. This is not because I am on what is, I believe, known in the U.S.A. as an "ego trip" but because each of the works referred to contains information not easily available elsewhere. The object of my writing is to provide, in a convenient format, information which would not otherwise be available to readers who lacked the time and facilities for lengthy research.
