This new edition of the definitive livestock dictionary includes approximately 9000 entries, representing an increase of 18 percent since the third edition. Furthermore, some 2300 entries have been amended. These include major changes (new name, extinction, or the extension of a bare name to acomplete entry), as well as minor ones (new breed society, new synonyms, additions to distribution or description, changes in spelling or of conservation status). In addition to these changes references to USSR, Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia have been corrected in accordance with the current countrynames. Overall the book continues to represent a standard reference work for all concerned with domestic livestock, particularly those involved in animal breeding and genetics.
