The author, her sister Delphis, and brother Charles were noted breeders of Irish Wolfhounds (Coolafin), living at Curracloe in County Wexford. The Gardners had an intellectual as well as keenly practical interest in their Wolfhound breeding. This is an excellent and very readable history of the Irish Wolfhound which details the breed's appearance in all manner of historical and legendary records.
