THIS book is intended primarily for younger enthusiasts who want to get started in the wargaming hobby without the complications of the more sophisticated approach found in most books on the subject. The inspiration is the famous original work on the subject Little Wars by H. G. Wells (reprinted in recent years by Arms and Armour Press). Time has marched on since Wells' day and such items as aeroplanes and gunboats and radar are covered in this book. I hope that more advanced wargamers will find this book of interest, since wargaming with the larger 54 mm scale figures and guns which fire seems to be growing once more in popularity. It certainly makes an entertaining diversion from wargaming with small scale figures. All the measurements and distances given are those I've found convenient for indoor games. They can be halved or doubled as desired depending on the space available. For wargames in the garden, for instance, 54 mm figures and guns are ideal. The other point to bear in mind is that you may not necessarily require all the rules given here-aircraft and ships, for example can be ignored if desired, even for modern era wargames.
