Navigate a racing yacht, using traditional methods and electronic aids. Also covers strategy, tactics and performance monitoring.
Navigation on board racing and cruising yachts has changed considerably in recent years. As the title suggests, this book by Stuart Quarrie covers all aspects of a fascinating subject. The layout makes it simple to extract information, while both the text and line diagrams explain a complex subject in easy-to-understand diagrams.
Anyone who is interested in navigation or tactics should have a copy whether or not they are 'the navigator' on a yacht. Although aimed primarily at the racing yachtsman, there is plenty which is applicable to the cruising sailor, especially the areas dealing with overall strategy and planning which are just as relevant whether cruising or racing.

Stuart Quarrie has been sailing all his life; he was Chief Instructor at the National Sailing Centre at Cowes on the Isle of Wight for several years and ran his own internationally renowned racing school from 1987 to 1990. He has sailed and raced on numerous yachts of all sizes as navigator, skipper or instructor and loves nothing better than helping others to get more out of their sailing. Successful campaigns have included The Admiral's Cup and Ton Cups as well as Swan regattas and club racing. This wealth of experience leaves him uniquely suited to write a book of this type. He currently apportions his time between regatta sailing, coaching racing crews and writing. When not sailing for work, he races locally with friends and cruises with his family; thus his whole life revolves around sailing and racing.

hardcover. Condition: Good. Our good condition books are generally good for reading but not for gifting or collecting. They could have imperfections such as creasing, fanning, inscriptions, margin notes, yellowing, staining on edge or cover or pages, bumps, scuffs, etc etc (sometimes multiple of these). It's a wide category that encompasses anything that isn't almost-new down to anything that is slightly better than poor. We would NOT recommend gifting Good books - these should be considered reading copies. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only.
