9780852651476: More Knowledge

Synopsis

Is Paolo Mandini the greatest runner-up? What is the fastest ever sending-off? Who are the most benevolent players? How did Alan Hansen get his scar? Which is the world's greenest club? More Knowledge is well ahead of other football knowledge books. It doesn't answer questions that have been asked and answered a billion times before. Instead, it asks: What is the most postponed game ever? Which managers have been sacked at half-time? And, did a referee really shoot a player dead? All questions—posed by Guardian readers—have been faithfully (and brilliantly) answered by the Guardian's online football-writing team.

About the Author

James Dart is the deputy sport editor of guardian.co.uk, where he has worked for the past five-and-a-half years. He also appears on the site's Football Weekly podcast and live football/cricket coverage (when they're desperate). His writing appeared in the 2005 Guardian Ashes book, Is It Cowardly To Pray For Rain?, and he also compiled the first print edition of The Knowledge in 2007, though isn't sure what to make of the review which labelled it 'the sort of book most blokes would welcome as an addition to a toilet reading cabinet'.
