Describes the electrical characteristics and applications of semiconductor devices, covering amplifier stages, biasing, difference stages, noise, integrated circuits, frequency-dependent circuits, discrete and field-effect devices, switching devices, semiconductor transducers, and power supplies. Analogue-to-digital and digital-to-analogue converters are also considered. Closing chapters introduce the concept of computer-aided design and describe how application-specific integrated circuits may be designed and produced. Includes end-of-chapter questions and numerical problems.
