Synopsis
The operators of potentially hazardous installations are required to demonstrate their policy of risk management. This is achieved in different ways. The main requirement is the provision of a safety case by operators which states how the installation will be operated to ensure an acceptably low probability of occurrence of a feasible hazard. This applies to all the major industries such as the power industry, the process industry, and, more recently, the off-shore industry.
Pressure Systems: Operation and Risk Management focuses on the development of safety cases and the operational experience relevant to risk management and hazard assessment of pressure systems. This collection of refereed papers is divided into seven sections dealing with: legislation; technical issues; case studies; and inspection and fitness for purpose.
