The author looks at the range of printed rituals available to English Constitution craft lodges and then examines the lodge procedure in detail. He offers advice and explanations of the duties of the Tyler, the Inner Guard, the Deacons, the Junior and Senior Wardens and, in careful detail, the Master. There is much more including commentary on the Tracing Boards and Working Tools of the three degrees. The late and respected Bro. Harry Carr wrote an invaluable introduction to the book in the second edition as well as an Appendix on the life of Dr. Cartwright. These have been retained for this Third Edition and a new introduction has been prepared by the eminent Masonic scholar and ritualist Colin Dyer.
