This pack is the result of three workshops for chemistry teachers: - at Johnson Matthey, Reading on the extraction of platinum group metals; - at Raychem, Swindon on "smart materials"; and - at Chemoxy International, Middlesbrough on "biodiesel." A different group of teachers attended each of the three workshops. They received a presentation from the company on an aspect of its work. This was followed by a brainstorming session to suggest ideas for useful learning material based on what the teachers had seen and heard. The material produced was then edited and trialled. This pack contains teacher's notes and material to phorocopy for use by students. A video on platinum extraction is also available separately, sponsored by Johnson Matthey.
