Synopsis
Dramatic poem' presented first as a masque in Dorchester Abbey near Oxford, in 1970, by British poet and Faber and Faber editor Anne Barbara Ridler (1912-2001). Her Collected Poems (Carcanet Press) were published in 1994. She turned to libretto work and verse plays, and it was later in life that she earned official recognition, receiving an OBE in 2001. Artist John Piper (1903-1992) was an English painter, printmaker and designer of stained-glass windows and both opera and theatre sets. Meary James Thurairajah Tambimuttu (1915-1983) was a Tamil poet, editor, critic and publisher, who for many years played a significant part on the literary scenes of London and New York City. Tambimuttu created two publishing houses, Editions Poetry London (established in 1943) and Lyrebird Press (1968), both of which published major works.
