From the Publisher

Have fun trying to figure out who's who when...helps to focus attention and develop an eye for detail (observation skills).
A few avenues of communication to explore over many readings:

1. Can we always trust what we see...what we're told?

2. What does 'hate' mean?

3. Why would we be mean to someone we love?

4. Why do some people call others nasty names and criticize others?

5. What is jealousy? What makes us feel jealous? Why?

6. What is bragging? Why do we do it?

7. Why do we say things like: "She's this king of person or that kind of person."?

8. Does it make it easier for someone to learn to be tidy when people around

them are constantly telling them what a mess they are?

9. Is it easier for brothers and sisters to be their own selves when people around

them are constantly telling them that they're just like their brother or sister...or

that they should be? Is this something that only happens with twins?
One of the illustrations shows both children with big toothy smiles. The text reads, "I have twenty-four perfect teeth. She only has twenty-three. Count them." we are immediately curious to know if this is so. The teeth are easy to count and there's an interesting surprise when they're counted accurately...
Other math concepts: How many teeth on top? How many teeth on bottom? Top and bottom have the same number. Does the first twin really have more teeth than her sister? Does her sister really have fewer teeth than she does? Two twelve's are twenty-four. Twelve plus twelve is twenty-four. What are two twenty-fours? Half of her teeth are on the top - half of twenty-four is twelve. If you divide twenty-four by two, you get twelve. Throw in one or two of these questions or observations at each reading.
What makes this book an excellent first reader? Short, simple sentences in clear, bold print arranged carefully below well matched illustrations and a subject which strikes a chord with all children who have siblings.
