Hardcover. Condition: As New. Dust Jacket Condition: As New. 1st Edition. Like new hardback copy. This appears to be a brand new unopened and unread copy, BUT there is a small amount of sun fading to the base of the spine of the dust jacket. Otherwise, no discernible flaws. 1st Edition. Published by Michael Russell (Publishing) Ltd 1989. 8vo. Original gilt lettered blue cloth 407pp, illustrated with b&w photos. A lovely copy. This book is not a spy story. It is a forensic examination of the mountain of evidence, gathered at painstaking length by the author, over a period of 40 years to determine the truth about Henri Dericourt, certainly the most contentious person ever to have worked for S.O.E. In 1947 Dericourt had been tried and acquitted by the French Military Tribunal of Paris, having been charged with maintaining contacts with the Sicherheitsdienst, to whom, he allegedly passed information whilst serving as S.O.E. F Section's Air Movements Officer. In May 1949 the author learned that her friend Noor Inayat Khan had posthumously been awarded the George Cross. She began her quest to learn the circumstances of Noor's death. That quest led to S.O.E. and ultimately to Dericourt. We pack our books properly and ship daily from the UK. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition. "Henri Déricourt, a French pilot commissioned in the RAF in WWII, was parachuted into France to receive and dispatch the British aircraft which landed secret agents during the German occupation. Awarded for his efforts by the French, he was subsequently charged with treason. Was there more to his case than met the eye? Prompted by her researches for her highly successful 'Madeleine', Jean Overton Fuller met and came to know Déricourt well. This book sifts all the evidence, examines the various theories and detects an episode in Déricourt's past which is perhaps the key to the whole absorbing saga. If the wartime world of the secret agent catches your imagination, here is total immersion." - dust jacket. viii, 407 pages. Index. Black and white reproductions of archival photos.
