He drove an old Bugatti which developed gasket problems - Munby finally crafted the perfect replacement gasket from some vellum taken from an ancient and completely wrecked manuscript. Thereafter, in answer to the inevitable "Lovely car. How old is it?", Munby was able to respond "Well, parts of it date from the 15th century".
