Synopsis of Landscapes of Memory: Turner as Illustrator to Scott: The association between J. M. W.Turner and Sir Walter Scott began in 1818 and lasted intermittently until the writer's death in 1832. It centered on Turner's Commissions to illustrate Scott's Provincial Antiquities and Picturesque Scenery of Scotland, and the Poetical Works.
