Gr 4-8 These short volumes are visually appealing and should be most attractive to reluctant readers. Basic facts about the source of these forms of energy, their distribution, processing and importance are considered. Simplicity is perhaps overdone, as there are no dates or sources for statistics. Both titles feature sharp color photographs and diagrams on every page; clear, large print; and wide margins. The chapters are brief, each covering a double-page spread, with a minimum of easy text. Halacy's Nuclear Energy (1978), Kraft's Oil and Natural Gas (1978) and Coal (1982, all Watts) and Gerard's Book of Water Power (Warne, 1963; o.p.) are for more advanced readers.
