AUTHCOMMENTS: A year or so ago ARABS & ISRAEL FOR BEGINNERS was hailed as "the one book to read in order to understand the ongoing conflict between Israelis and Palestinians." Since then, my book has been the target of organized smear campaigns. (Chomsky calls them "the endless lies of the Anti-Defamation League and its friends.") Organizing a squad of goons to defame books that tell the truth about Israel is about a half step (half of a goose step) above burning books. Why is Israel so afraid of my book? All it does is tell the truth in plain English.

I stand so firmly and passionately behind ARABS & ISRAEL FOR BEGINNERS that I would take a polygraph test to prove that I never knowingly distorted the truth to favor either side. (...with one exception: I chose not to mention the fact that many of the early Zionists were communists from Russia and Eastern Europe because I felt that it would prejudice readers in a way that wasn’t fair to the Zionists.)

About the Author

AUTHORBIO: Ron David was Editor-in-Chief of the Beginners Series for four years. During that time he commissioned and edited over 40 Beginners Books, including books on Chomsky, Sartre, Shakespeare, The Black Holocaust, The Jewish Holocaust, Derrida, Fanon, Domestic Violence, Jung...and a few dozen others. Ron is also the author of "Jazz for Beginners," "Opera for Beginners" and "Toni Morrison Explained: A Reader’s Road Map to the Novels."
